![]() Georgina Wilcock is a medical doctor with specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. As a mother and physician, she is deeply concerned about environmental degradation and its effects on human health. As the Green Party of Canada's candidate in the riding of Don Valley West, she is genuinely committed to bringing about meaningful change. Georgina ran for the Green Party of Canada in the 2008 federal election and increased the Green vote in Don Valley west by 60%. Since then she has continued to work full- time as a physician whilst involving herself in local and federal green issues. She was a delegate to the Green Party biannual conference in Pictou and is now the Health Critic for the Green Party of Canada. Georgina has been a guest speaker at a number of school and community events, an Eco leader for the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, and a participant in the Live Green Toronto initiative. Georgina obtained her medical degree from the University of Zimbabwe in 1986, coming first in her class. She worked as a physician for two years in Harare before immigrating to Canada in 1989 and continuing her specialty studies at the University of Toronto. She is currently a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and works full time at the Scarborough Hospital. For the past 10 years, she has had administrative duties as the chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has completed a number of courses in medical leadership, and plays an ongoing role as an educator to family practice residents. Georgina has been a champion for patient safety initiatives through the MOREob program of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada. Georgina lives in the riding of Don Valley West with her husband of 24 years, Ian Kitai, two teenagers, David and Sarah, a West Highland terrier named Conner and a cat called Pebble.
